Vendor Development Programmes
Manufacturing has been recognized as the main engine for economic growth and creation of wealth and accordingly emphasis was placed on growth of industry in most of our five year plans. However the share of manufacturing has been stagnating at a low level of 17%of GDP for over 2 decades, but has started increasing in the recent years. One of the major reasons for the reduced level of contribution by manufacturing has been the inability of the country to build & maintain competitiveness needed to meet the global challenges as well as to develop a larger domestic market through low cost production.

To bridge the gap there is a need to have a mutual understanding between MSMEs and Large Scale Enterprises by way of partnership among them to come out with state-of-art production capabilities. To aid MSMEs to access the outsourcing needs of the PSUs and other large units, MSME-DI provides a common platform for the MSMEs and the PSUs to match the requirements through the Vendor Development Programmes.These Exhibition-cum-Vendor Development Programmes aim at bridging this gap between support systems and Government Departments, Public Sector Units, Navy and other Defence Departments and Large Scale Enterprises, etc.

Every year, MSME-DI, Hyderabad organized VDPs at major industrial centres in the state. Major PSUs in the state are invited to exhibit their requirements. Representatives of the PSUs explain to the interested MSEs, their procedure of procurement and the documentation involved. The standards and specification are discussed in detail. At the same time, MSMEs also put up stalls to showcase their capabilities. Such events in the past have resulted in many enduring vendor-vendee relationships and have led to sustained partnerships. Every year, around 15 to 20 crores of rupees worth business enquiries are generated.
